INDIRECT INJURIES

A STRAIN IN THE HAMSTRING FROM OVER - STRETCHING THE MUSCLE

A dancer is completing a static overspilt stretch with their feet rested on a block and a chair. The dancer did not effectively warm up with cardiorespiratory exercises and dynamic stretches before completing this advanced level stretch. The muscles were not given adequate time to loosen and relax and were therefore stiffened and short before the commencement of the stretch. This consequently resulted in a strain in the hamstring muscle
